One huge thing checked off my Chicago bucket list: a visit to my first Chicago museum! I have to say, I’ve absolutely been spoiled with the Smithsonian in Washington DC and all of their free world-class museums. So moving to Chicago where you have to pay for entrance has definitely been a deterrent for me. However, when you get a complimentary ticket to go to one of the best art museums in the country, you can’t say no.

We went on a tour by Museum Hack, a really neat program boasting that “this isn’t your grandma’s museum tour.” It was super fun, especially because I’m not typically an “art museum” kinda girl. Before you think I’m crazy, I’m more of a huge science freak who loves interactive displays. I’m also really bad with history, art and literature in particular. I can recognize a famous painter’s name but don’t ask me what their most famous piece of work is. Whoops! So this tour was the perfect mix for me that explained the significance of important pieces while keeping me entertained and engaged. The museum is so huge that it’s best to just get the highlights of the museum, then come back if you want to focus on a certain area of the museum.
Here’s some of the highlights from our tour:
