Just like the next person, I love looking at some good #foodporn pictures. Half of the time, it gives me inspiration just scrolling through feeds on instagram of food near me or even by the hashtag #brunch. Sometimes it can inspire me to make my own recipe and sometimes it inspires me to go out and find somewhere local that can satisfy my cravings. These five online destinations always give me inspiration to try something new and I owe a lot of recipes and trials to these folks.
Five Favorite Food Blogs
Ali seriously is my biggest go-to for any recipe. Drinks, to slow cooker meals, to salads. She has everything organized by course, occassion, diet, and even breaks down her desserts. Anything you can think of, she has on her site. Plus it helps that her images are drool-worthy.
You might know Kristyn from her previous lifestyle blog, Chits and Giggles. She started her new food blog, Dash of Herbs a little bit ago and has even guest posted on my site about her Strawberry Lemon Shortcakes . I love that all of her recipes are Weight Watchers-friendly because there have definitely been a time or two that I looked up a recipe that called for a whole stick of butter when it wasn’t needed. She also chats about Weight Watchers and meal planning, too!
I recently just stumbled upon, Christina’s blog, and fell in love with it. Christina shares a nice mix of lifestyle posts and recipe posts and has a great list of food blog resources. Many of her recipes are pretty healthy too including meatless and gluten-free options. But really, watch her video on how to make the perfect pizza at home. I’m still craving it.
I can’t remember how I stumbled upon Scott and Al’s blog, but I reached out to them a while back before I really wanted to transition from purely a “lifestyle” blog to a “food and lifestyle” blog. Then I was able to meet them up at Earls Tyson where we got to chat about avocados and favorite cocktails. I love and admire their blog daily, especially because their blog had such a simple start. They moved down to the DC area from NY and wanted to explore the area and find good date spots. So they innocently started reviewing date spots throughout the DC area and blew up into a well-known food blog in the area. Like The Blissful Balance, they share some great lifestyle posts about their dog, engagement, and fun things to do around town. Also, if you’re a fan of guacamole, you’re in luck, Al’s favorite thing is guacamole and their blog frequently features guac, like an unnofficial guide to guac in the district.
At first, Kit’s instagram was the thing that drew me into her blog. All of her photos are to-die-for! I started following her since I’m moving to Chicago I’m trying to reach out to more Chicago bloggers and scope out the food and blog scene before I get there. Her blog is a mix of travel, restaurant reviews, and recipes of her own. I’m already starting a list of restaurants I need to go to once I get to Chicago!
